About George

George is about 4-5 yr old yellow lab mix with big brown soulful eyes. He's about 30 lbs and has a tail that wags constantly. We adopted George about 4-5 yrs ago when a friend was trying to find a home for him. He was super sweet and friendly. He loves to take walks and just hang out. He minds well and has completed obedience classes. His only health problem is season allergies for which we give him allergy pills. A couple of years ago we got a Labradoodle puppy, and they became good friends. We have 2 grandkids who love both the pups, and the kids have been having sleep overs for several years with George sleeping right beside them as if standing sentry. The kids are now 9 and 11. The 11 yr old, Cyrus spent the night about a month ago and when he was ready to go to sleep he nudged George to move over and George bit him. Nothing like this had ever happened before, although afterwards my husband did say George once got upset when he tried to move him from his spot. The bite was to the face and while it was bad, it did heal completely and Cyrus has forgiven George and even came by to see him. However we no longer can trust George and our daughter doesn't want the kids over any more as long as George is here. We tried and tried to find another home for him here, but no luck Then we decided to put him down (a terribly difficult decision) But our vet suggested we try some rescue groups. Hence this post. We love George and it would be great if he could be adopted by perhaps an older individual without kids who won't let George up on the bed. If I had to do it over I wouldn't have let him on the beds with the kids, but hindsight...
