About Gypsy Bean

Treeing Walker Coonhound / Beagle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Gypsy needs a new forever home immediately. Originally she needed a home by Friday, 6/28, but my surgery was postponed. With that said, she will go to the AHS this Saturday at 2:00 pm. Gypsy is around 6 months old and weighs around 25 lbs. Her guesstimated birthday is 1/1/19. She is microchipped, spayed and up to date on her vaccines including rabies and even lepto (for dog parks, the lake and hiking). She has been on heartworm and flea prevention for the last 3 months. She will come with all of her vaccination records and microchip information. I had DNA testing done, we couldn't figure out where the curled tail came from and I was very curious to know what hound she was 'made of,' so she'll come with that report, too. :) Her report found that she was mostly Walker Hound, Beagle and German Short Hair Pointer, with a little Labrador Retriever. With that said, she rarely barks unless it's to be let back inside and I've never heard her bay like a hound. Her coat is more like the pointer coat in that it's short, shiny and very soft and does not have the crazy Lab undercoat! :) She was predicted to be around 50 lbs full grown (she was the smallest of the litter) but I'm not sure if she will reach it. Gypsy is a very loving, very sweet dog. I call her the velcro dog because she loves to be where you are. She and my 4 1/2 year old son get along very well and she also loves my son's friend (our next door neighbor) who is 5. She has not a mean bone in her body (she ran from the first squirrel she saw). She is a tad stubborn and has a lot of energy. It's a Pointer's level of energy, if you're familiar with the breed. She's fast and agile and would be an amazing agility or dock diving dog as she gets older. She loves to play fetch and retrieves like it's her job, even stuffing two or three toys in her mouth at once. She's crate trained and will go in without an issue. I simply stand but her crate and say 'Gypsy kennel' and she goes right in. She was 95% house broken but because of my medical issues making me be away from home for longer periods she's recently fallen back to pee pads. My fault, not hers. Which brings me to the reason she is now up for a new home. I have a few recent medical issues that have arisen which have greatly impaired my ability to give Gypsy the exercise and attention she needs. I'm away from home a lot longer more often than what I was when I first adopted her and it's just not fair to her. She needs regular exercise, a fenced yard is preferred for her new home, although she comes when called she is part hound and that stubborn side comes out every once in a while. She's not dog aggressive, she's actually a little timid while on walks or at the park, but warms up after afew minutes when meeting a new person or animal and immediately thinks you're a friend if you come into the house or the backyard. She will come with medical/vaccine records, collars (2), leash, food, rabies tag, microchip tag, and a few of her favorite toys
