About Gizmo

Gizmo is a neutered purebred Black Chow Chow. He is micro chipped Heartworm tested negative and on preventative. He has received good veterinary care. I adopted Gizmo on Feb 4th 2019, Just after his first birthday of Jan 17th. He is 18 months. Gizmo was surrendered to Medina CO animal shelter just before his 1st birthday. The party indicated that he worked alot and did not have time for him. His coat was in bad shape and he had not been cared for properly. I had good success with him for 3 months. He has become aggressive toward me on several occasions. It is my belief that he has been neglected and or abused and his aggression is fear generated. He hates grooming and will be very good unless he is unsure of what you may be going to do with him. He plays very well with other dogs, however he should be fed separately. He is not food aggressive but was attacked by a dog on his first adoption that left cuts on his face and he is fearful now when being fed with others. He is a beautiful Chow and needs to be properly trained for grooming and building of trust. He will require someone possibly a single man who is well versed with the breed to be successful. Gizmo was given much outdoor fitness I ran him at the lake and exercised his sometimes twice and day. He had a dog door and enjoys that freedom very much. Please adopt and give this guy a chance. I am ill equipped to train and give him the dominant figure he needs to follow and thrive. He will require an owner familiar with the nature of a dominate Chow, possibly behavioral intervention. He is worthy of a good and patient home with the resources to turn him into a trusting good fit! His medical records and chip information as well as his papers will be supplied at the time of adoption. The adoption fee is to be donated back to the rescue as we only want a good and stable home with the time to work with Gizmo.
