About Loki

Adoption Fee: $200
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Loki is a high energy dog who needs a fenced in yard or a rural farm where he can be outside and run and play. He loves people but is very attached to one person (me) and will cuddle with people on his own terms. He is more likely to cuddle with men. He is dog aggressive with many dogs. He has a few that he loves and plays with, large and small. With dogs he doesn't like he will snap at them. He has strong chase instincts and is not good with young children. I have a 13 year-old daughter and he loves her and her friends of the same age. There are only three people he has not liked immediately but overall he loves people. He especially likes men and listens to them better than women despite having only lived with women. He loves fetch and loves water. He will break ice to get to water to play in it even in the Winter. He also loves mud. Unfortunately he hates baths and I have to wash him outside. Loki pulls on a leash but when I keep him against my leg he falls into step. He has grown up with a cat that he likes to chase but has never tried to harm. I am looking for a new home for him because my work schedule has become very heavy and I have to be away from home for long hours. Due to this he does have accidents in the house when I am away but has never gone in another person's house or on hard floors. He paws at me when he wants to go out when I am home. I want Loki to have a full and happy life. It is very difficult for me to make this decision but I want to do what is best for Loki. I want him to the ideal home. He needs a lot of activity. Loki has a wheat allergy. He must eat grain free food and treats. If he has even a little bit of wheat he immediately gets an ear infection. I have drops from the vet for when this happens. He is also an aggressive chewer and needs a lot of chew toys that can keep up. He loves to run off with pillows and laundry, particularly to get someone to chase him. Loki is almost two years old and is very intelligent. The times when I have had him off leash he will go a distance and then stop to make sure he can see me before running again. The ideal situation for Loki would be a place with lots of room for him to be outside, a house with no young children and with an individual who can be active with him and work with him on his dog aggression and obedience. He is a wonderful dog and loves people. Loki is about sixty pounds but is slimming down now and will be in great shape when he is more able to get exercise as often as he needs it. He has no health problems other than his wheat allergy. He is neutered and up to date on his Rabies but needs his distemper and parvo booster which I will get before he is goes to his new home. He does get car sick but enjoys riding in cars for short times.
