About Derby

Derby is a comical, friendly, and very energetic pup! This playful 6-month-old Rattie mix will keep you on your toes, but you will love every minute of it! Derby came to rescue with his mom, who is about 12 lbs. Dad must have been a little bigger because Derby already weighs 13 1/2 lbs. He'll probably weigh under 20 lbs. full-grown. Derby loves to go for walks and does very well on the leash. He loves meeting people and has made friends at the farmers market and local bike shop. Chewing sticks, bones, and sometimes your flip-flops and zooming around the yard with the other dogs are his favorite things to do. Derby is reliably house-trained, but since he's still so young, you'll need to get up in the middle of the night if you hear a whimper as it means he has to go out. If you work, he'll need you (or someone) to come home around lunchtime to let him out. Derby's also crate trained but would love to sleep under the covers and snuggle with you at night. Derby's wish list for his forever home includes at least one very energetic canine playmate, a fenced yard, and an active family. We're positive that family is going to love helping him learn the ways of the world and spoiling him rotten.
