About Layla

Australian Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Layla - She is a 9 year old Purebred Aussie who is looking for a new loving owner! My husband and I recently celebrated the birth of our son and as much as we do not want to and as devastating as this is for us, we are concerned with Layla being around him due to her high energy and herding tendencies. We have had issues with toddler age children in the past and we don't want to run into any future issues, contain her to a crate, or pay any less attention to her because we are focusing on our newborn. We also recently found out that during one of our walks/play sessions with Layla, she tore her ACL on her back right leg. We took her into the Vet on Friday 6/21/19 to have the Vet make recommendations, and we have chosen to move forward with surgery to heal her leg properly. This unfortunately is another reason we are looking into re-homing her. We are not sure, as a young new family, can afford to care for her after her procedure the way she deserves. We would love to place Layla in a home where she is the only pet. It could be with a couple, a single owner, or a family with older children. We have lived in both an apartment and a town home with a very small backyard, which is hard for her breed. It would truly warm our hearts if she could be placed with someone who could take her on frequent walks or who had a large fenced in backyard where she could run around and explore! She is a beautiful Aussie with a sweet nature and it is incredibly hard for us to give her up. Although she may not be good with other pets or being around young children, she is a warm loving dog who with attention and love, will reciprocate it fully. We have had family members and friends babysit for us numerous times and they always have the best things to say about her when we return. We would love to find a caring loving person to take care of her!
