BRITTANY-1 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. BRITTANY-1 is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 October 2018 and at the time of rescue in the middle of June 2019, weighed around 9.00 pounds. She is listed as an Rat Terrier / Chihuahua Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. BRITTANY-1 is a happy, confident, curious young pup. She gets on great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and is happy to hang out or run, chase and wrestle with her friends. She is affectionate and loving with everyone she meets and has never shown any kind of aggression to other animals or humans Brittany lives in the house with me and around 20 other dogs, she uses the dog door to go out and do her business, or play. However, she is not going to know to let you know that she needs to go out so we do expect families to understand that she is not fully house-trained. She is going to need an active family as she is a terrier and they like to run, explore and go on adventures. Although she is very responsive, she has not had any training and we are looking for a family that understands the importance of training, not just for obedience but both humans and dog can learn each others body language, mannerisms and expectations. Brittany-1 will make a wonderful family addition to an active, fun loving family who will include her in family activities, ensure she is well behaved and well mannered and can give her mental stimulation and exercise that she needs. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. BRITTANY-1 is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
