About COLT

Adoption Fee: 550
Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

COLT was saved with is sister Clara, (who was adopted shortly after she got tot he rescue) from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. COLT is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 February 2019 and at the time of rescue in the middle of June 2019, weighed around 20.00 pounds. He is listed as a lab mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. Now that COLT has grown full size he most likely weighs around 60-70 pounds. COLT arrived at the rescue on Monday, 24th June and was a happy pup, he loved to play and wrestle with his sister, but when she was adopted he would play with all the other young pups who he lives with. Colt lives in a communal area of the rescue and has access to a large fenced in area - he enjoys playing, wrestling and chasing with the other dogs of all ages and sizes, but he also keeps himself entertained chewing and playing with the toys. COLT is a great boy, he is very loving and affectionate and learned the command sit, very quickly. He is very food orientated and could lose a pound or two, and so food and treats should be monitored. COLT is great with all dogs of all ages and sizes and he has been very friendly with people he has met. I have no doubt he would make a fantastic family dog with the right lifestyle and be great with children as long as they respected him and of course, as with all dogs were always supervised. With COLT being a big boy, he would need to be watched when playing if small children were around as he might accidentally knock them over, but I believe that would be the only problem and with training and living in a secure, safe and structured home, those issues would easily and quickly be worked out. COLT needs an active, fun family who understand the importance of obedience training, mental stimulation and have the time to take him on walks and adventures so he can burn off his energy. He would make a great fun addition to a family that can give him what he needs. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. COLT is available for adoption for a reduced adoption fee of US $550 in hopes to find his forever family. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
