About JOSEPH-PETEY

Adoption Fee: $550
Golden Retriever / German Shepherd
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

JOSEPH was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. JOSEPH is neutered, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 17 February 2019 and at the time of rescue in the middle of June 2019, weighed around 30 pounds. He is listed as a Golden Retriever / German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. Joseph was living with a foster family in Texas whilst waiting for transport and here is the great information they shared with us. The shelter named him Joshua but he never came to that. We called him Petey from the Little Rascals movie. His routine- he wakes up when we do around 5:30 am and he goes potty outside and eats his breakfast. He loves food especially TREATS! We caught him once holding his food bowl around the living room. My husband and I leave for work around 6:30 am. He stays in his crate that we bought him all morning and then my husband goes home at lunch to let him out. He goes outside and does his business. Then he gets back in his crate. We've had him for 6 days and the only time he had a problem with his crate was when it was raining and he didn't go potty that morning, so he needed to get out and go. ( we put a dog camera on his house to watch him). Then we're home by 5:00 pm and he eats dinner (we do dry food. Right now he eats Eukanuba dog brand because that's what we feed our dogs). He plays for a little bit but really just watches my two dogs. He isn't afraid of toys, he just acts like he doesn't know what to do with them. We go to bed around 9:00 pm and he sleeps all night! He did sleep with us for the few days we had him. No accidents on the bed! The first two nights he woke up a few times and we let him outside to potty and then he came back to bed. He is the CUTEST sleeper! He is so long that he stretches and takes up half the bed. One night I woke up and his face was resting on my shoulder. He is so stinking cute. All he wants is love. love. love. Behavior - he knows how to sit, he learns quickly. He gives lots of kisses. He generally plays well with other dogs. I have a dachshund and it's like he never saw a small dog before. He just followed her around and wanted to play with it. No fighting or anything. He was more curious than anything. He was more curious and observant with my two dogs, just wanted to see what was going on. I also have a mini Australian Shepherd and he wanted to play with him. Really he wanted to play with my two dogs more than they wanted to play with him. He wasn't aggressive, no fighting. The only bad thing is that he's a puppy still so he's still potty training. And that's not bad, just that he's a puppy and still learning! He did learn to go to our back door within a couple of days! We have a doggy door and he did go through it once by himself. He had a few accidents while we had him but he's still potty training and he knew what he did was wrong. He likes- he loves everyone!!! He's been around my husband and I, my sister and my two grand mothers and they ALL loved him. He loves treats and giving kisses and snuggles and espionage belly rubs!! LOVES his belly rubbed. He likes bones. We gave him a puppy Nylabone and he likes to chew on that. He likes to try and play with toys. He just doesn't know what to do with toys. He's not scared of them, just not sure what to do. Hopefully he'll be in a house where he'll have all the toys in the world :). Our dogs love to play with balls, so he was slowly learning to go get it when we had him. He'll make a great family dog!!! I don't see him having any problems with small children. He was never around a cat, but he'd probably do the same thing he did with my mini dachshund, just kinda paw at it and try and play. He likes to lay his head on blankets and make a bed. He just wants to feel safe and comfy with lots of love. JOSEPH is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550 Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process.
