About LOBO-1 - $400

Adoption Fee: $400
Great Pyrenees / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

LOBO-1 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. LOBO-1 is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 5 June 2017 and at the time of rescue in the middle of June 2019, weighed around 80.00 pounds. He is listed as a Great Pyrenees. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. LOBO has been at the rescue since June 2019 and has really done amazing, his personality has come out, he has gained weight and is a big, handsome, laid back, albeit stubborn at times boy. Lobo gets on great with all of all other dogs, from small dogs and puppies up to large dogs - he does run and play, but likes to plod and explore or roll around wrestling with his friends. LOBO is a big boy who has been waiting for his forever family to come and find him and still after 5 months no one has come, he is hoping a family familiar with his breed traits will find him to give him a fantastic forever home. LOBO although not high energy does need an active lifestyle. A family who understands that there can be a degree of stubborness with Great Pyrenees and be able to work with him so he understands that he is not in charge. When LOBO arrived at the rescue he was so skinny and depressed and wasn't interested in much. After a few days of good food he started to show more interest and to come out of his shell. After a week or so, he was a happy boy and I let him out for playtime with a young female German Shepherd. It was clear Lobo didn't know how to play and he was definitely growing into his body, legs were going all over. After a few hours with the GSD he was having the best time, running and chasing and falling over. After a few weeks I brought Lobo over to the house to live with me and the other dogs and small dogs and he has been great - he is the perfect height for the kitchen counter, so best not to leave food out. He has got much more confident and has lots of friends of all ages and sizes. He does use the dog door to go outside but he is not going to know to let you know he wants to go out - so we cannot say he is fully house-trained. He does need training and a family that takes this seriously is important. Training is not just about obedience, but also about learning each other's body language and mannerisms. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. LOBO-1 is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
