Sunny - 10 yr old Shih Tzu, unaltered male - recovering from bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection and kennel cough. Uncertain if Jacobo was going to be able to pull through because of his condition, our vet suggested giving him a week on anti-biotics and time outside of the shelter environment to see if he would improve. That evening after a bath, he became a new dog. Full of spirit and curiosity, we knew instantly this little man has the will to live! Once recovered from his bronchitis, Jacobo will be receiving double eye enucleation surgery (eye removal) as one eye is hemorrhaged and the other is on its way, a full dental with multiple extractions, and will need to be neutered. He has an enlarged tumor in one testicle from its shape, size and firmness could possibly be cancerous. The vet is hoping with its removal will also be any cancer it had with it. While Jacobo has a laundry list of complications he has proven to be a fighter, a lover and deeply appreciative of pets, affection and love. We pulled Jacobo as he was running out of time at Downey shelter. He had been sitting in his own filth, matted fur in a small cage in medical at Downey for month with every rescue and person passing him by due to all his health issues. We could not let him spend one more day suffering in a cell and boy are we glad to be able to give this guy a great shot a final, loving forever home. While Jacobo will need to undergo these surgeries with our foundation, we are at this time accepting adoption applications for him. We expect a full recovery from Jacobo with a long life a head.
