Meet Lorelai This gorgeous mostly black Boxer mix with a white tuxedo chest and white tipped paws was on death row at the over-crowded Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare shelter. The day she was to die, the shelter put out a call for help to see if any rescues could take her. Kudos to MBAW for trying so hard to keep as many of these babies alive. We had the space, and we immediately worked with them to pull her, along with two other helpless dogs - Finney and Speck. In rescue it takes a village and we work together to protect the voiceless. We're so happy to have Lorelai in our shelter. We can tell she knows she's been saved and safe. Lorelai has a super sweet personality. Since arriving on June 13, 2019, she stands waiting at her kennel door to greet everyone who goes by. She is full of tail wags and ready to give doggie kisses. Lorelai is absolutely gorgeous. We think she is about 1.2 years old. She came to us on the way too skinny side though, showing she's had a tough go of things. She currently weighs 45 pounds, but could use five to 10 more pounds on her medium size frame. We're working to bring her weight up. While outgoing and friendly, she's on the calmer side. She has a regal demeanor with good manners. She walks well on a leash and enjoys being out of her kennel with staff and volunteers. We expect from the way she eagerly watches other dogs that she's dog friendly and she's shown she is cat friendly. Lorelai was at the front of the line to be euthanized because she is heartworm positive. Treatment is expensive and shelters like MBAW have to make really, really tough decisions given their funding status. It's not their fault. They do what they can given the terrible hand they've been dealt. Luckily, one of our shelter supporters stepped up to fund her heartworm treatment so we could save her life. Now we just need to find her a forever family so that Lorelai can live a long and healthy life filled with love. In just the short amount of time we've had to get to know her, we've become smitten. If you're looking for a gorgeous girl on the inside and out, come meet Lorelai. We think you may become just as smitten as we are. Lorelai will be spayed, fully vetted and microchipped before going home. We'll also begin her heartworm treatment and work with her adopter to make sure her treatment is complete. Call 706-865-4135 for information on additional health services provided as part of the adoption fee.
