Hakuna matata, y'all, it's me, your girl Shenzi. I'm just here to let you know the big news- I'm available for adoption! After living in a hoarding situation with over 20 other cats and dogs, it's safe to say I'm ready to put my behind in the past and find my very own forever lap to perch upon. I am an 2.5-3 year old mixed breed dog and I weigh roughly 36 pounds, the perfect weight for me to keep vigilant watch for predators from atop your couch or lap. Since I've lived in a very large pack before, I'm very dog and cat savvy. I'm also making great progress on house training, leash training, and crate training. Even though I'm the bravest Wile E. Coyote-looking dog you've ever seen, I am VERY scared of men (like 'run away and hide' scared). Also, if there are children in the home, they will need to be older and calm. One thing is for sure- I definitely need a home with another dog so I can feel safe and empowered. So here I am, the dog you wished into existence the moment you thought 'man, wouldn't it be cool to have a dog that looks like a shepherd met a coyote, had a baby, and allowed it to be raised by a pack of domesticated cats.' We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
