URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR SAMANATHA. SAMANATHA'S PEOPLE ARE GOING TO KILL HER THIS WEEK UNLESS WE GET HER TO A SAFE PLACE. . Could it be with you? Just 18 months old and 50#s, SAMMIE is a GORGEOUS lab mix in urgent need of a foster home with an experienced dog owner, a patient, confident guardian who has experience helping dogs with fear based anxiety. Samantha has always been shy and nervous with new people and situations. After a slow introduction and gentle encouragement she would chill UNFORTUNATELY rather than help SAMANTHA grow her confidence, her adopters put her in one situation after another where her fears have been heightened. Rather than using force free, positive reinforcement, desensitization and reconditioning training techniques, they kept her indoors most of the day where she wasn't allowed to play and burn off excess energy and crated in a separate room when new people came into the home. Rather than make sure Samantha got the daily physical exercise and mental enrichment she needed to be happy, they installed an electric fence to keep her in the yard of which she was terrified. After a year of this, she broke out and bite a neighbor and now they are putting her down. Samanatha deserves better. I cared for her for a week last year and she was an awesome dog. She loved the company of other dogs and romping and playing in a huged fenced in backyard. She was a lovebug and loved to snuggle up close and nap contently while I watched TV and worked on the computer. She loved to be petted and told how beautiful she is. She was a sweetheart! Super smart and active like most labs, she enjoyed daily mental and physical exercise including jogging and hiking. She would excel in any canine sport obedience training or any dog sport, agility, flyball,or scent work. She could still if someone would please step up and help this beautiful sweet precious life.
