About Delia

My name is Delia! I have been with my rescue since February 2018. I am a wonderful, sweet girl, who is ready to find a forever home! I was found starving and pregnant and full of fleas in a Louisiana shelter. All of my puppies have been adopted-now it's my turn! I would love to have a canine companion! I need slow introductions to other dogs because I can be aggressive at first, but once I get to know them, we become friends. I currently live with a canine foster sibling. She loves me--I wish she were a little younger, so we could play. I absolutely LOVE kids and people of all ages and sexes. My favorite thing to do is roll over for a nice belly rub. My other hobby is hunting rodents! I love to stick my head in holes on our walks. One time, I even pulled out a chipmunk! Maybe this is why I get along with cats so well. My foster mom has two young and playful cats, and I don't really pay attention to them. If my new home has kitties, I'll need to learn that they're part of my family. I love going for walks and my absolute favorite thing is hiking. I need an active home that will make sure I can burn my energy, either running or biking or hiking or walking on leash. Maybe I could even live on a farm! I have lived with chickens before and I've met horses. They didn't even turn my head. I also point and flush birds. One time, I flushed out five pheasants, which made me extremely happy. I am crate trained, but I also do ok out of the crate. I need to have enough exercise and attention though, because otherwise, I start to surf the kitchen counters when mom's not home. I am very calm around the house and mostly sleep when at home.
