About Misty

Misty is a rescue girl that was found on a road by family members in Arkansas (approx 15 months old). She was extremely emaciated, had mange, fleas, worms, and recently weaned a littler of puppies. She was nursed back to health and we chose to give this girl a forever home with us. Misty in incredibly sweet and has a whole lot of personality and sass. She is great with young children (we have 3), and respectful when new people come to the house (no jumping). She knows some basic commands, is crate trained, house trained. She also is an excellent running partner and does extremely well on a leash! Being a Catahoula, her prey drive is strong. I do not recommend homing with anyone with cats or other small animals in or around the house. When she came to us, we had her at the dog park daily for 3 months straight with no problem having her in a pack. We also have a black lab at home, whom she gets along with just fine. Around 18 month of age she started to exhibit dog aggression (to new dogs) and we had to stop going to the park. An incident on Memorial day is what is prompting her needing to be re-homed. When she was at my parent's house, their neighbor's small dog charged the fence and was barking and growling at her. Misty was able to pry the gate open and went after their dog. The dog was fine, but she did cause a superficial tear to the skin. With having small children and living in a dog heavy neighborhood, we cannot risk the kids opening the door at the wrong time and she gets out and goes after another dog. This dog is truly something else and deserves to have a long, happy life with the right family.
