About Halligan

��s� PLEASE TAKE A SECOND TO READ . I write this with a heavy heart and at the risk of being judged . I have a male neutered 6 year old staffy that I must part with , I've had him since He was 5 weeks old, I consider it a rescue from a backyard breeder where had I not taken him he would have ended up as a fighting dog I'm sure, as a Great Dane breeder I DO NOT approve of puppies leaving their mothers before 8 weeks. Anyways , he has always been a good boy , I took him everywhere with me , beach , park , outside restaurants, any place I went he went also , he has been raised with dogs of all sizes and sex's , loves his kitties and has always been pretty gentle with puppies and kittens I would bring home to foster , however this was a different time for me , I was in fl (only been here for 2 years or so) had a house that I shared with my ex and a better paying job. I won't get to much into details but the last 3 years have been pretty hectic for him and I . Lots of changes including a multiple moves that made me have to keep him in his crate most of the day (was renting a room so he only had the bedroom and I worked full time) ,then a pregnancy and a long drive to move here to Texas where my now husbands family lives so they could help me with the baby as I'm a first time mom and until I found employment and our own place here in Texas , in this place he atleast had a fenced backyard but he really didn't want to spend to much time out there unless you were with him (which I couldn't be having to care for a newborn and eventually working a full time job) but again he could not roam the house due to other ppl being afraid of him and other pets in the home not liking strange dogs , so again notyhe greatest life for him anymore , and I can tell he's super frustrated that so much has changed for him and he can't get out with me like he used to and he's becoming more and more hostile and unhappy. So long story short , we were finally working and able to get our own place so we started applying and ofcorse we're looking for the impossible apartment that allowed large dogs (I have a dane) and pit bulls , so we finally found one , applied , and were denied due to my husbands criminal record being less then 10 years old (please no judgment) so we asked a few realtors and explained our situation and no one could help or find a place that fit our needs , or they would just never text or call me back , so finally we gave up most what we were looking for and just settled for a place that would accept my husbands record because we have a child and needed our own place so we couldn't wait any longer and neither of us have the funds for a house , so with our bad credit and limited funds and his criminal record we finally found a place , they allow large dogs but ofcorse no aggressive breeds , so they don't even know I have him and occasionally he has to go stay at my mother in laws due to this , so now I'm working 2 Jobs , husband has one , also have a 1 year old , and a small little apartment, he has to be crated when we're not home which is most of the time unfortunately, I also am afraid to take him on walks for fear they will see him and we will be evicted (which can absolutely not happen) . I have contacted many shelters and they have all told me WE DO NOT TAKE OWNER SURRENDERS over and over I get the same answer , I even contracted bully breed rescues and same thing , I just want him to go to a good home where he can enjoy the rest of his remaining years properly. A little more about him , his name is Halligan , he's 6 , neutered , knows sit, stay, wait, paw , speak . Can be food/toy possessive , does better with female dogs or small/submissive males , good with cats , had never gone after small animals outside , never met any livestock animals , good for car rides , walks well on gentleader (head halter) but won't pull when tired out . Good for baths , nail trims/nail grind , has been on heart worm/flea and tick prevention up until the last year (heart guard and nex guard) , rabies just recently expired , other vaccines need to be done but previously done by me at home (I worked as a vet tech) but he does have some vet records , he has a home again microchip which I havnt updated im a while so I would need to log on and give his new owners my log in so you can change it as needed. He somtimes pees when he's excited so I recommend ppl don't pet or talk to him untill he's outside lol. So basically He's looking for his new home ���� this is my last resort , I will not let him get put Down or end up a fighting dog .
