About URGENT - DONNIE

EXTREMELY URGENT - DONNIE HAS PAST HIS NOTICE DATE. RESCUE ONLY - Please help DONNIE by contacting rescues and help get DONNIE to safety! He's a good boy who deserves a chance! A5238395 Donnie is a gentlemanly 8-year-old black-and-white neutered male Pit Bull and Boxer mix who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from Baldwin Park on November 20th. Weighing 62 lbs, Donnie has the refined temperament and tuxedoed good looks of an old Hollywood movie star. He comes out of his kennel calmly despite the noise and stress of the shelter and walks perfectly on leash. Donnie basks in human attention and loves treats and scratches behind the ears. He very much enjoyed posing for his video and photos and likes to show off his 'sit' command for treats. He gets along well with other dogs, especially female dogs, and we think he would also make a good family dog. With athletic energy and old-fashioned good manners, Donnie is the consummate leading man looking to be the star of his own home. Assessment notes: Donnie greeted the handler with a high tail wag, soft eyes, and a relaxed body. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, and pulled slightly on leash. He became a bit barrier reactive with another dog while walking through the kennel, but was easily corrected by the handler. In the yard, he leaned against the handler and rubbed his body along her legs. He solicited petting, and jumped on the handler lightly. He was easily corrected, and continued to solicit petting. He allowed the handler to pet his whole body. His eyes were soft, his tail was neutral with a soft wag, his mouth was open, and his body was relaxed. He stayed close to the handler and continued to solicit petting once the assessment was over.
