About Kymber

ADOPTION PENDING We are looking for an EXPERIENCED beagle family. We have a beautiful 11 month old, not spayed little lady that needs to find her forever home! Kymber was bought for my 13 y.o. son as a birthday gift (actually 5 years worth of birthday gifts in advance from his grandmother) back in November at 4 months old (DOB 7/4/18), unfortunately as much research, prep and planning as my son did... having wanted a beagle for years, it just was not enough to keep up with the challenges of raising and training a beagle puppy. Caring for Kymber quickly became a whole family project and unfortunately I feel as though we have failed her. Our busy schedules have found her crated or tied out for long periods of time, that I do not agree with. Being a stay at home mom, homeschooling 3 children, with sports every night of the week, (recently started) working p/t and starting a farm, life has become increasingly hectic. Kymber is loved deeply, there is no doubt about that! But she is lacking training and discipline, and she deserves a family that has time to work with her and discover her true abilities. Kymber is a runner and will escape our back door EVERY TIME it is not latched properly, and with little recall, it is nerve racking... fortunately with a barnyard and animals out back, she doesn't go far before someone catches her! with that being said she NEEDS to be on leash and would do best with a fenced yard!!! And unfortunately she does not always walk well on a leash, and pulls alot for a 20lb dog! She has lots of typical beagle traits from eating all sorts of stuff... her newest favorite is crayons but also includes nasty stuff, she will help herself to the garbage or recycling if its accessible. She has been known to chew decorations/trinkets/toys that are in reach. She is infamous at begging/stalking/counter surfing for food. We have learned to gate her from areas that can not be seen. She can be jumpy when excited. Some of these traits can be corrected with proper training and discipline. Kymber is a cuddle bug and wants to be the center of attention. She knows come, sit, stay, wait, lay down, fetch, drop it, and go to bed. She is very treat motivated. She is house trained (but is on a very strict schedule, if not she WILL go in the house!!). She is crate trained and actually seems to not mind alone time either. She loves laying in the yard on her lead. She gets along wonderfully with my 105lb rescue mutt, they are best buds... which is probably the hardest part of rehoming her. She has been around a few smaller family dogs and did fine with them as well. She loves all people, car rides, treats and snuggling. I am looking for someone local, with Vet references and prior beagle experience, that is willing to come meet her!
