About Mars Rover

Adoption Fee: $100
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Very sadly, we need to find our dog, a +9 year old Treeing Walker Coon Hound, a new house. The dog has been with us since 2012, she lives in a home with 4 people: man 43, woman 43, boy 6, girl 4. She's a great, sweet dog. She's AWESOME with my kids. Her only bad trait is stealing food left on the counter, which she does like a flash of lightening. (And she hates being out in the rain.) She's pretty lazy at this point. She takes two short walks a day, plus one more quick time going out before bed. She's home alone from 8-6 and is perfectly happy sleeping all day. She only eats dry, senior food, and other than getting slower, she's in good health. She's fully vaccinated and visits the vet, Point Breeze Veterinary, yearly. It breaks my heart to need to rehome her, but due to a serious heath issue my husband is experiencing, we need to. She'd be a great dog for someone who doesn't want a puppy. She's a hound, so she beys...doesn't bark. She loves snuggling up on the couch. Greets everyone with jumps and kisses, but howls at the mail & UPS guys. She's a good 65-70lbs, but lean, not overweight. I don't put her in a kennel ever, I think it stresses her out. They tell me she does fine, but when she gets home, she has diarrhea. For the past two years or so, if we go out of town, I use dog sitters or she stays with another family. When she stays with my neighbor, who has a puppy and the two dogs do fine together. Mars seems to roll her eyes at the silly puppy. She does well at a dog park, but just sorta stands there. She's a great dog, with sweet sad eyes. She just needs a loving owner. Please let me know if you can help.
