BROOD Dogs are available to adopters in VA,WV, MD, DC, DE, PA. My name is Jeremiah, but you can call me Jerry. I'm a young Basset mix, just about a year old. My foster mom said I'm a perfect mix of bouncy floppy Labrador puppy in a short little Basset body!! I came to BROOD after my owners left me at a shelter. They were moving and apparently the new place didn't like dogs. I have a lot of puppy energy and curiosity so an experienced dog owner to help me learn the rules would be ideal. I can get myself in to a lot of mischief but I am generally a quick learner. It didn't take me much time to adjust to the routine of my foster home and house trained quickly. In fact, I do my business just as soon as I get outside. I also learned my name, how to sit and come, and even 'break' when my foster siblings have had enough high energy play and want to take a breather. I still want to play so will easily amuse myself by playing with and chasing balls. They are just my favorite! I am generally pretty quiet, but have been known to bark at strangers. My foster family is helping me to learn that new people are nice. They take me on lots of walks and to the dog parks to help me socialize with people and other dogs. My forever family will need to continue introducing me to new people and places so that I continue to remain comfortable around them. I will do best with someone who has owned a dog before. We even go to a store that is just full of dog toys and treats. I got lots of treats from the workers because I was being such a good boy! I'll do just about anything for treats!! I love hot dogs as well as any sort of vegetable or fruit, especially oranges! I might have a lot of energy but can unwind with snuggles on the couch and lots of kisses. The adoption application is on the BROOD website. We require a home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many Brood dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog. 04/07/2019
