Hi, my name is SILAS - ID#A3824455 I am a neutered male, black and white Beagle and Labrador Retriever. The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old, and I have been at the shelter since May 15, 2019. Basset body + big dog head = what are we even looking at here? Silas is a big dog trapped in a little dog's body. His looks make him pretty unique and his personality is fun too! He loves a good back scratch or a game of fetch. Silas was a little defensive meeting new dogs in his evaluation. He may prefer to be the only dog in your life, or a slow introduction to help him feel more comfortable. It is recommended he not go home with young children. Notes from a volunteer about recent visit with Silas: 'Per vol. Meg on 5/27/19 - Silas was calm and playful, enjoyed playing with rope toys and balls, was gentle/soft during interactions, an easy pull/return. He was non-reactive in the wing, barked for attention when I returned him to his kennel. He loved playing fetch with a ball, especially to catch it in mid-air. He brought the ball back but would not give it until he tired of not playing, then released it for me to toss again. More interested in playing than affection from me.'
