Birdie is one of the most special dogs you'll ever meet! She is about 2 years old and only about 14lbs. What makes her so special? She is a dog meat trade survivor!!!! She was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea...found chained up sitting in filth with a dirty old bowl of rotten garbage nearby as her food. She is not traumatized like so many dog meat survivors are, so it is thought that she once lived in a home and was sold to the farm when her family didn't want her anymore, so she likely didn't spend much time at the farm. She is a little nervous around men at first - since they are the abusers at the farms, but she warms up and is so incredibly sweet! She is thought to be a jindo mix but she is quite small for a full grown dog and Jindos tend to be medium to large dogs so she must be mixed with a smaller breed. She is crate and potty trained and such low maintenance! She loves squeaky toys, carrots, peanut butter, belly rubs, and to sit in front of a window to watch the squirrels and birds go by (not a barker). Little Birdie has a unique owl like face that makes her name a perfect fit. She was saved from the dog meat farm by the incredible Nami Kim of Savekoreandogs.org and once spayed and vaccinated was flown to JFK where her foster family (us) picked her up and brought her home to show her love and treat her for heart worms. The vet said she is ready to find her forever home so if you think that is your home please email us for an application. (She can't be in a home with cats- likes to chase them too much).
