About Colette

Colette is a wonderful dog who wants nothing more than to explore and cuddle. She has a lot of energy and is very smart. Due to her Great Pyrenees side she is very protective of the property and is constantly patrolling and is intolerant to dogs near her fence. She does great at doggy daycare and is fine with other dogs she lives with. She can be nervous and while on a leash meeting dogs she doesn't know or being approached by people, bikes or cars can cause her to lunge and snap. In that state she has been known to redirect her snapping at the people around her and has nipped but not drawn blood. She needs a firm handler and would do best on a farm or enough land where she can do what she does best wandering and keeping the area secure from predators. She has been indoors but much prefers to be outside even in the rain and snow. We would love to be able to keep her but she deserves a situation that better suits her breed and natural instincts. She has been through multiple training classes and knows her basic commands and is very smart. That said her Great Pyrenees side is very independent and if there is some perceived danger she won't come when called because she needs to go on patrol. Any adopters should read up on her breeds as her instincts to guard and patrol are very strong. She loves children and is generally good but due to her size can be intimidating and is still learning to not herd the children. She is roughly 50 lbs. A little more detail on her breed. Her father was a full Great Pyrenees and her mother was half Border Collie and Half Australian Cattle Dog.
