About Bowie

Bowie is a thirteen month old, 68lb ball of love. He's been with me since I rescued him from the San Francisco SPCA at 4 months old. He is the most affectionate and cuddly dog I've ever met, he loves people more than anything. He's a big lap dog that loves watching TV and lounging. He also loves playing fetch and engaging in training. He knows all basic commands and some additional ones as well. I love this guy more than anything but I've come to the decision that he would be so much happier in a different living situation than I can currently offer. I moved to downtown Portland into a small apartment and this coincided with a change in his dominant behavior at the dog park. He's still extremely friendly with other dogs on leash but he's now displaying aggressive behavior at the dog park whenever he finds a stick or a toy is in play. I'm not comfortable taking him to the park anymore because he's too aggressive with other dogs off leash. I am now unable to offer him the exercise he needs. I would love to find a home for him that has a backyard where he can play. I take him camping all the time and he entertains himself playing with sticks and just running around out in nature. At my home he just seems sort of depressed and understimulated. He's crate trained, he's never had an accident since I've had him. He clearly communicates when he needs to go to the bathroom which isn't more than 2-3 times a day. Bowie is super smart, he's healthy, he is really handsome and he would be the perfect addition to a home that wants a cuddly dog but one that would also make them feel safe. He has protected me on walks downtown when some scary homeless men have tried coming at me. He doesn't bark much, only when someone comes to the door. He stops when I tell him to. I am willing to bring him to meet anyone who seems like they would be a good fit. I'd like to have some background info on new owner before I hand him over just to have piece of mind that he's going to a good home
