About Romeo

Adoption Fee: $50
Pit Bull / American Bulldog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

When reading please have an open mind. Some of what you will read sounds worse than it really appears. There has to be someone willing to give their time for this amazing dog. There is much more to the story than what is below. He is a 6 year old American bulldog (scott)/ Pitbull mix. I truly believe Romeo is a gentle soul and loving dog but a tragic accident happened on Memorial day as he attacked our 14 week old yorkie puppy who sadly didnt survive the ordeal. Romeo has been around other dogs previously including a Morkie who we had from 8 weeks to 4 years old and gets along well with his sister after reuniting with her after 4 years. We did obtain vet permission before getting the puppy and Romeo was great with him up until the accident. We believe it was toy aggression and the size of the puppy that contributed to the outcome. After this incident we can no longer trust Romeo nor give him the proper home, this was truly unexpected. As his owner I take full responsibility for what happened and I do not blame Romeo for the accident. Romeo was just defending his toys when he attacked. He has never acted this way when we were present and this happened right in front of 3 adults. Unfortunately, no matter how much I love Romeo I can no longer look at him the same and my wife and I would never be able to trust him or be able to give him the love he deserves. This is not fair to him and we believe that it is best we give him to someone that would be the best fit for his needs. Romeo also suffers from severe separation anxiety, fear aggression toward strangers (when we are present) and dogs his size or larger, toy aggression, possible food aggression, and is very defensive aggressive when my wife is present. He has bitten her uncle and brother in protecting her,. I truly believe that with the proper training, treatment, and people surrounding him, Romeo will turn into the dog he truly deserves to be. He just needs to be given the chance. He deserves more than we can offer him anymore. We need to find a place for Romeo to live because we will not just give him up to anyone, before I risk him getting mistreated, I will schedule to have him put down. Only serious inquiries only.
