About Bettie

HI! My name is Bettie. I keep to myself more or less. You might wonder why I don't rush to the front of the kennel when I hear someone coming. Why I don't wag my little tail and try to get them to notice me. It's not because I don't want new friends. It's because I'm sad. I wasn't always an orphan. Unwanted. Faced with trying to get someone to like me. To think I'm cuter than the next girl or guy so they'd take me home. I had a home and a person who loved me a lot but my world was turned upside down in a minute. My person was getting bad pains and after a while a truck with big lights and loud sounds came and took him away. He never came back to me. His family came for a while and they give me food and let me in the back yard so I could do my business. But one day they put me out and never came back. The neighbors called the people at animal control and they picked me up as a stray. That was awful but what's worst of all is I miss my human. The only thing I have left of my life with him is the smell of his smoke that is still on my fur. He smoked all the time. Now that smell comforts me. It reminds me that I was once loved. Do you think anyone will ever love me again.... Bettie is a 4 to 5 year old, 47 lb pit mix. She is SUCH a sweet girl! She is relaxed, and calm; she walks well on the leash, and is in general, a really good girl! She is good with other dogs and good with the cats. She loves being pet and stays right by your side for as long as you will rub her.
