19-079 Shiloh - Bio Update, May 28, 2019 This little princess is Shiloh who lives in Beach Park, IL with her foster mommy, daddy, three fur sisters and a fur brother. She is an adorable little 9-year-old, spayed female yorkiepoo who is doing well with her food aggression issues, however she is being fed separately from her fur sisters and fur brother as she wants to run around and check out each bowl because someone might have something better than she has in her bowl. If something falls to the floor, she is the first one there and it is considered hers. She has been in fights with her fur sisters over foster mommy accidentally dropping something on the floor and they all go for it. If something falls to the floor, a stern 'NO' will often stop her and allow me to pick it up, otherwise if I simply reach down to pick it up, she will bite. Due to this habit that we are trying to break, I feel that she should not be in a home with any small children who do not understand her aggression that anything that hits the floor is hers. This is a work in progress but we have made strides and she will listen. She is very smart and learns quickly. I feel we've earned her trust and we always praise good behavior. Shiloh is very comfortable in our house with her surroundings, loves to be outdoors and wants to be with her people. We have a fenced yard so she is free to run about without a leash although we have to keep a constant watchful eye on all the fur babies due to coyotes and predatory birds in the area. Because she loves to be outdoors, she really needs a fenced yard with supervision and no means of escape as the saying goes, give her an inch and she will take a mile. If she is displeased, Shiloh will let you know by barking and it is the same if she wants your attention. She has quite a loud little bark so I don't know if apartment or condo living would be a good idea as neighbors could complain. Shiloh does not bark excessively but she does let you know if she is displeased, wants something or is demanding attention. She was formerly only potty pad trained but she will do her business outdoors now as well as use the potty pad indoors. Shiloh has 'floating ribs' that you can feel when you pick her up but this does not seem to cause her any discomfort or pain. The vet said she should be able to live a normal life. Shiloh had hip surgery when she was a baby and she does have some luxating patella issues in her little back legs. I am giving her glucosamine daily which seems to help. She hesitates a second or two at the bottom of the stairs before going up but then she runs right up without any problem. She goes up the stairs to our bed at night and sprawls out wherever she feels the best spot is on the bed. Shiloh had a dental and is currently up to date on her vaccinations. For reasons listed above I feel that she should live in a home with adults only, no other pets, and preferably not in a condo or apartment as she loves her own yard and a doggie park might not be the best option. I also think she would do best in a home where someone is home with her all or most of the day. She loves walks but still pulls on the leash and wants to lead. Shiloh is a great little girl, stubborn, spoiled, and pampered, but oh so loveable and waiting for her perfect furever home. Please contact her foster mommy at [email protected] for more information if you think you might have room in your heart for this little doll and be able to provide a loving and caring environment.
