About Pete

Adoption Fee: $25
American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Pete is a loving, energetic, goofy dog. We adopted him in October of 2016 and have loved him so much during that time. Unfortunately, whomever had him before us must have abused him or intentionally made him aggressive in very rare circumstances, and it's not something that we can correctly handle in our household, or with the potential for a child in our future. We did his DNA test after adopting him (he was supposedly a 'terrier mix') and the results were that of a purebred American Staffordshire Terrier. He is about 65 lbs, LOVES belly rubs and cuddles, and a good chew toy. Like many dogs, he does have some issues that come along with him, but overall he has been an amazing dog for us in the 2.5 years we've had him. He loves snuggling up with you, will try and fit on any lap that is nearby, and is very eager to please. He loves when he's rewarded for doing a trick, and you can tell in his face he's so proud and happy to make us happy. He has some anxiety issues, but is crate trained and has done very well in the crate for us. He loves people, but definitely has nervous energy around people because he's so excited about them, so an individual who doesn't have people over or is ok with crating him with people over would be best. We have another dog that does very well with Pete, but have had difficulty with him around other dogs other than our dog, so him being the only dog in the house would probably be best. Pete loves going on walks, playing tugs, and just napping around the house. We are so upset to lose him, but can't risk having him in the house if we have a kid, and want to get him rehomed now while we have the time to find the perfect match for him, rather than put him back in a shelter. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions about Pete! I cannot stress how much love and affection this dog will give to you for years to come!
