Hi, my name is DOUG - ID#A4254304 I am a neutered male, brindle and black American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old, and I have been at the shelter since May 10, 2019. Sweet & shy Doug needs a new home, and he gets along with cats and kids. Poor Doug was surrendered to the shelter at 8 years old because his family had someone staying with them that had a large dog, and Doug didn't get along with that dog. It's obvious Doug is so sad and scared at the shelter. When I walked up to his kennel, he immediately ran out back and started shaking. He did come forward for treats and let me leash him up. He walks super easy on the leash and is very mellow in the yard. Doug is unsure of this whole shelter thing, but he does warm up with a little time and patience. He enjoyed just quietly hanging out with us in the yard getting gentle pets. Doug's former family said he did really well with kids ages 5-8 and never bothered the cats in the house. Doug's dog evaluation with other dogs does indicate he may prefer to be the only dog in the house. Doug is a sweet and sensitive soul who really doesn't deserve to be at the shelter. He HAD a home, and is very confused and scared at the shelter. If you are looking for a sweet and mellow dog that could potentially be cool with your cats and kids, bring the family in to say hello.
