For a couple of years, Bear 'hung out' as a homeless street dog in Corpus Christi Texas. He originally was with another doggie friend named Rocky. Both dogs fended for themselves, and these dogs were lucky that neither was hit by a car or killed by another animal. They were definitely survivors! Eventually both dogs were caught up so that they could be adopted into loving homes. Rocky has since gone with another rescue, and Bear is now with us in Wisconsin. He is looking for a new doggie friend-and an adopter who will lavish him with the love that he has not known previously. Bear is a sweet, shy, gentle fellow. We have no idea what mix of breeds he is, so your guess is as good as ours! Bear has been neutered, he is about three or four years old, he has been totally vetted (shots, microchip, fecal, etc.) , he has recently undergone treatment for heartworms (which are very common in Texas) and he weighs about 35 lbs.--so he's just the right size! Spring is the perfect time of year to adopt a new dog, and Bear will be ready to start a new phase of his life now that he has successfully completed his five-month long heartworm treatment. Bear would prefer to be adopted by a family who has another dog for him to play with. He would also prefer not to be a latchkey dog, and a safe, completely fenced yard is a must. (Please, no invisible fencing.) Bear's adoption fee is $275. We invite you to write to his foster mom ([email protected]) to begin a conversation about whether Bear would be a good fit for your family. (And, if so, we will send you an adoption application to fill out after which time we can schedule a meet-and-greet along with a pre-adoption home visit.)
