Somehow I found my way into a fenced in backyard during Hurricane Florence. The family searched high and low for my owner and placed posts on several websites, but no one claimed me. This family could not keep me because they have three large dogs and live in a townhouse with a small backyard. A neighbor, who I call Glammy, graciously took me in because she loves dogs and did not want me to be taken to a dog pound. She named me Gunner. She took me to the vet to get examined, neutered, microchiped, and up-to-date on my vaccinations. I weigh 55 lbs. and the vet thinks I am about 2 years old. She has taught me a few commands such as sit, stay, come, and is teaching me more. I am also crate trained and house trained. She also introduced me to dog toys. Although Glammy has been taking good care of me, she is not able to keep me because she does not have the knowledge or experience to take care of me due to my past, does not have a fenced in backyard large enough for me to roam, and has a 6 lb. Maltipoo who is afraid of me since I am bigger than she is. I have some behavioral issues because I have been abused/neglected, abandoned, and was not given the chance to socialize with people or animals. I have had a 'rough start' in life and am looking forward to a better life. I am hoping to find a forever home with someone who is experienced with dogs like me and is willing to give me guidance and training so I can be the best dog and companion I know I can be. Are you that person? Love, Gunner
