About Lily

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED ABOUT LILY? This lovely young lady has gone on FIVE home visits now. Through these five opportunities, we have learned the following: 1) She starts off pretty rambunctious, but that is because she's just getting the lay of the land and figuring out routines. She takes about 48 hours to settle in. 2) She does best with a leash called a Harness Lead. We will send one along with her! 3) She does have a high prey drive...specifically bunnies. She has had various success with cats...in some situations, she sees them as prey. In others, she sees them as an annoyance. We still think that cats may turn out to be Lily-snacks...but she does surprise us. When she is in prey-mode, she yelps and hollers because she wants to get what she's focused on. She needs you to re-focus her and remove her from the situation. She will not hurt you! 4) She loves her people so much! She will follow you around the house...she wants to be near you. 5) She is a snuggler! 6) She thrives with her own kennel in the home as her safe spot. We can lend you a kennel to use during a home visit. 7) She has had varying success with other dogs. Honestly...it's a crapshoot on who she may get along with. In one home, with two resident dogs, she did fine. In another, she was highly reactive. If you want to try a meet and greet...we're open to that. One caveat...they should be bigger than her, or she will most likely see them as prey. 8 ) Lily enjoys toys and treats. She is smart and trainable with those two motivators! 9) She would do really great with a young homeowner who has a fenced yard and no other pets...that would be her best comfort-zone. Someone with time for training is a plus! 10) She will make someone a very fine companion!!! She is sweet as can be and really, really loves her people. She deserves as many chances as it takes to find her forever home.... we have had some tremendous folks give her a chance, helping us to help her find that perfect home...and learning a lot about her in the process. Lily is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, tested negative for heart worms...and is available for a home visit leading to adoption. Her adoption fee is $100.
