About Chloe

Doberman Pinscher
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

My name is Chloe. I'm a 3-year-old special needs girl looking for a compassionate forever family that will help me live my best life. I have many health issues, starting with seizures that began when I was only 8 weeks old. The neurologist says they aren't truly seizures but really has no other description for them. When I first came to my foster home, I had numerous 'seizures' in a 24-hour period but recently I haven't had any. All the love I get has REALLY helped. When I become anxious it can bring on an episode so I like to have my humans or a canine buddy close by. My good friends at DVDPA took me to see a cardiologist. He said that I have occult dilated cardiomyopathy so now I need to take this medicine 'Vetmedin' every day to help my heart work better. I don't mind taking the pills. Foster mom just puts them in my food and I gobble them down. Also, foster mom limits my play time to 5 mins at a time otherwise I may have an episode and I also become extremely tired and MUST rest, my heart you know. And last but surely not least is my vision. Foster mom took me to see this other nice doctor called an ophthalmologist. She said I have very limited vision and will probably lose what I have remaining. Unfortunately, there's no surgical fix to correct my problem. Sometimes, I bump into the walls and furniture so I'll need a helping hand to show me the way. Foster mom places her hand softly along the side of my face to guide me to my food dish and around things I'm unfamiliar with. I can do steps at this time, but as my vision deteriorates it would be best to have a home with no stairs. I also like to sleep with a night light on'| I guess you could say the darkness that I live in frightens me. Oh, and I DO NOT like crates. I bump into the sides and become frightened which can lead to a seizure. So there you are'| that's my health. I really am an affectionate and gentle pup looking for someone to love me just as I am. I would like a quiet home preferably with an older female canine to keep me company and with a human that is home most of the time.
