About Ukee

*DEAF DOG* PLEASE READ BIO! Every dog is 'one of a kind' but Ukee truly takes that next level. At about 8-9 months old, Ukee is maneuvering through some formative adolescent puppy months. Considering the lack of stability in her life at the moment, she is doing so pretty beautifully. Ukee found herself as a stray in mid-April, and was picked up and taken to ACCT Philly. She resided there for a couple of weeks before we had opened up some space for her. We aren't quite sure how she didn't get scooped up in the meantime, as she is a total gem. Ukee, as you can see, is obviously beautiful. She has big, green eyes that we could stare into for days. To make her extra special, she is missing a toe or two on one of her back paws. We call it her lucky foot, AKA dinosaur claw. Ukee is also at least partially, if not completely, deaf. We discovered this as she romped about our play group without so much as batting an eyelash at calling to her, high pitched noises, snaps, claps, etc. We suspected maybe some stubborn selective hearing, but after some more targeted tests, we do believe she can't hear a dang thing. Because of this, she would do best with a family with deaf dog experience, or one who is willing to learn the best ways to communicate with a deaf dog. Ukee is dog friendly, and LOVES to play. She has made a friend out of just about every dog in our adoption center. Because she is still young, she needs a family who can show her the ropes with housebreaking and basic manners.
