About Gary (west)

My name is GARY ID#A4255932 I am a neutered male, white and tan Chihuahua - Smooth Coated. The shelter staff think I am about 10 years old. I was rescued in traffic by a caring stranger and brought to the shelter on May 07, 2019. Gary is a sweetie. I picked him up from his bed, and he was relaxed. I took him to the yard to go potty then the volunteer room. He loves to be petted, especially while sitting on your lap. I gave him a bath today - there must've been years of dirt and grease on him. He stayed calm the entire time too. Gary was obviously someone's dog, as he is overweight, but he has been not well cared for, as he was extremely dirty, his ears were filthy, and his toenails very overgrown. Gary walks on the leash, but mostly wants to be near a human, preferable sitting in a lap. Gary has many signs of a geriatric dog: cloudy eyes, some fatty lumps, maybe a hernia (unable to tell at the shelter clinic), and maybe a little arthritis. If not adopted pretty soon, there will be no option but to euthanize him. We are hoping that someone who loves animals will take in this gentle little waif and give him a loving home during his golden years. He would reward you with a lifetime of unconditional love.
