About Malcolm

This absolutely breaks our hearts but we need to re-home our big lover man Malcolm. Please help us find somewhere or someone who can help. I'm willing to travel any distance to deliver him to the right home. He's a purebred American Bulldog, almost 8 years old, microchipped, fixed, UTD on shots and he's a really good dog but has some quarks/issues. Small kids make him very nervous, he's nipped our daughter multiple times over the years but is getting more comfortable with her now that she is bigger. He loves babies but as soon as they are mobile he gets apprehensive and growls. We have a baby that's crawling and on the verge of walking and we have to keep them separated. He's very big, about 110lbs, and thinks he's a lap dog. He loves cuddling on the couch and on the bed. He loves being outside in cool weather but IS an indoor dog!! He does NOT do well with other dogs except our little pug mix they grew up together but they get in fights too.we have had two instances with the neighbors dog and also had a run in with a cat once but he got defeated. He has some joint issues and tends to be stiff and sore a lot if he runs too hard which he likes to do when he chases the neighbors dogs through the fence. We invested a lot of money in dog training for him but he is still nervous around kids and needs a firm alpha but also a best bud. We will want to make sure he goes to a good home that's going to love him like we have and to also ensure he's going to be taken care of as he ages and any further needs he'll have. We give him supplements for his joints but most likely will start needing pain meds. He would be ideal in a home with no kids or only kids older than 10-12 who can respect boundaries and also be the boss. No cats. Live Indoors. Maybe an older couple who want a protective companion or a single person who wants a best bud. He is crate trained, potty trained, not destructive and such a loving soul. We will want an agreement that if it doesn't work out he comes back to us. We would also like to stay in touch to check in time to time. We love him so much but can't risk anything happening with our kids.
