Leo was rescued from local shelter and has shown food aggression signs from day one, and has been living in a house with a (male) Golden Retriever and female pointer mix dog. He does well but within the past week he has attached the Golden Retriever not requiring medical treatment but jumps on the dog showing his power. The Golden Retriever now fearful to walk down the hall or come close if Leo is in the room. Not sure what happened to cause the sudden aggression but it has happened 3-4 times in the past 4-5 days. Leo has always shown separation anxiety, hates loud noised vehicles no big trucks, no 4 wheelers. They make him crazy. He is a super guard dog and really needs to be in a home with no other pets where he gets owner's full attention. We are hoping to find that loving owner out there they may be willing to give Leo a change to see if he would work for them. The situation he is currently in can't remain too long because we can't take a chance for him to seriously hurt the Golden Retriever male dog again. The only issue Leo has is he ran out in the road year ago and was hit by a big power truck. Gave him severe road rash and broke his ankle. Vet treated him but says he will always have that pain in his back ankle. He runs great, but when he over does it he will pick that back foot up and slow down. But other that he is good. From what I hear his characteristics are common in pit mix dogs. I think he would really strive if he got with one loving person that could devote some training. Leo is completely house broken and up to date on all shots, on heart worm meds also. Last thing I will mention, he is as strong as an ox so he would not be good with an elderly person that would not be able to handle his strength.
