URGENT SURRENDER APPT 6/4/19 PLEASE HELP!!!! As I write this I am completely devastated and heart broken. My 3 year old red nose Pittbull got into a altercation with my 9 year old rat terrier a couple of nights ago, and the rat terrier was hurt badly, and could have been killed had I not been there and physically pulled them apart. they have had 'disagreements' in the past, but last night was very differnt, very scary and heart breaking. This was a case of jealousy and dominance and Until this event, when they scuffled, she would pin down the little one but never so much as scratched her skin, (basically just telling her to back off your getting on my nerves) I am so in love with both of them, but I fear now that Lola (Pitt) now knows she can over come Annie (terrier), who is and always has been alpha, the fighting will happen again and wont end well, I have seen it happen before when dominance shifts. Lola is normally a very sweet over sized lap dog and loves cuddles and play time. she doesn't know how big she is and (normally) gets along well with small dogs. she is spayed, has no aggression towards people ever, but she does get overwhelmed when around larger dogs, but hasn't ever tried to hurt them (but I don't give her a chance to when shes overly excited because Im scared someone will get hurt)but shes not been exposed to other larger dogs, so it's like a whole new world in her eyes. shes very smart and loves to learn and please people though Im not smart enough to train her to do much other then 'sitt' 'stay' 'move over' 'lay down'and 'get down'. she is house broke, spends the day time in the yard where she can run and protect my house from birds, and sleeps inside with me every night. she wasn't socialized with other dogs much as a puppy, and because she is so much stronger then me, and I don't know how she would do, she hasn't been to dog parks much, but she loves to go on hikes and car rides where she can hang her head out the window, playing fetch and tug-a-war, playing with the water hose and kiddie pool, tries to play with my cat (cat isnt so much a fan) and snuggling on the couch at the end of the day. I can not express how hard this is for me, but I know it is the best thing for everyone if she can get placed with a loving one dog family. she does need some obedience training, but she learns really fast and is eager to learn. Ive had her since she was 6wks old and she is the kindest sweetest prettiest fur baby. I have worked hard to keep her happy and healthy. she was a former friends puppy, and when he moved to Michigan and left her behind with me at less then a year old, she was severely depressed for about 2 months. she wouldn't play, eat or do anything but lay in my lap and cry. I swore to her that I would always take care of her, that I loved her and wouldn't leave her, and now I have to break my promise to her, but if I don't and she kills my other dog in a unfair fight, that will kill me and id never be able to trust her again. I love her deeply and I just want her to be ok, and I feel like a horrible person, but this is the only option at this point. my dogs are my children, my best friends, and all I have and I need them BOTH to be ok. This beautiful goofy love bug has a heart of gold, and is so intune to people's emotions and needs and only wants to play and love on everyone she meets... my heart is broken into a million pieces... and I just want to do what's best for both of my babies...
