This sweet senior is Crissy Ann. She is a 14 pound Shih Tzu who was surrendered to the shelter at 12 years old. It often saddens us when a senior dog is given up after they have been a pet for so long but, in Crissy Ann's case, we were glad that we were able to rescue her from that situation because hers had not been a good life up until that point. She had lived her life in a crate and didn't have a lot of room to move around. As a result, she did not have the full use of her legs when she first came to us. Also, her fur was so long and matted that you couldn't even see her legs. She just wasn't able to use them and it has taken a little while for her to relearn how to do that. At first, she would manage only a couple of steps and then suddenly plop down wherever she was. She is a plucky little girl though and never gave up. She's improved every day and now can walk outside to potty and walk back in as if she was always able to do that! Despite the fact that she had a rough former life, you would never know it. She has the sweetest nature ever. She never meets a stranger. She loves all dogs and all people. She loves to get in your lap for hugs and kisses and will wobble around after you as you go thru the house just to be close to you. Sometimes, if she wants attention and she's not getting it, she'll let you know with a little bark. She loves her bed and blanket and as long as she's taken outside on a regular schedule, she's pretty well potty trained. She is taking joint supplements to help her loosen up a bit more and we think that with continued exercise and an appropriate diet she can only continue to get better. She is current on shots, Heartworm negative and microchipped with a lifetime registration. If you're looking for a little girl that has a lot of love to give and deserves a lot of love in return, she might be the one for you.
