About Peyton

Little Peyton is a 5 pound Chihuahua sweetheart and is about 5 years old. She had a rough start to life having babies and living in a small wire cage in a shed with little human interaction. As a result, she is nervous, startles very easily and can be intimidated when she is on the floor and adults are standing around her like giants! She is starting to enjoy life outside a cage. Her favorite spot is the sofa where she spends most of the day and she will cuddle and get in her foster mom's lap when she is sitting beside her. She has a minor skin condition at this time and is being bathed with a medicated shampoo 1-2 times a week to help get her skin healthy again. Peyton is not yet house trained but she is kept on a regular eating and potty schedule and she is making noticeable progress. She needs a fenced in yard for safety as she startles so easily but a small exercise area made from a couple of exercise pens put together would be big enough for her as she is so small. She interacts well with other dogs in her foster home and has not been tested for cats. When she first came to her foster home she was more comfortable sleeping in a pen by the side of the bed with a dog bed, blanket and puppy pad, but now she is settled, she is sleeping in the big bed with the rest of the pack. She will do best in needs a quiet home with one or two adults and maybe another dog to keep her company and help continue her socialization. Peyton is a sweet baby that just needs time, patience and love to gain her trust so she can become the perfect new family member.
