Name: Dood Sex: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Golden Retriever / Poodle (Standard) (long coat) Weight: 99 lbs Height: 26 in Estimated Birthdate: 4/15/2015 Fence Needed: Without exception and it needs to be a solid, dependable fence and you need to plan to be in control of your dog. Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$499 Date into Rescue: 4/5/2019 Reason for being in rescue: VA shelter- allowed to run at large and picked up one too many times Special Needs: Dood was deemed a dangerous animal in the state of Virginia. His previous owner would not keep him confined and he was allowed to roam at will. He is happy and gregarious and would run up to people and knock them down as a game. He's not shown any aggressive side to us at all but we all know how to tel him 'GET OFF' and he's respecting that cue. He needs some training and someone with some common sense. Dood CAN NOT GO BACK TO THE STATE OF VIRGINIA. EVER. What kind of home would be best for me: Dood's perfect owner will be someone with dog experience, who loves to take long, brisk walks and who would enjoy teaching, shaping and training their dog to be the excellent companion this dog has the potential to be. Dood is affectionate and friendly and longs for that companion that will be his partner, his friend and his guide through life instead of letting him run amuck. What is my personality like: Dood is an even tempered and intelligent dog who has been allowed to run and roam and that got him on serious trouble. He was part of a pack with his sister Dette. One of our temperament programs is to take our dogs off site for adventures. Dood is a perfect gentleman in the car just as he was in the trip from Virginia to South Carolina. He is attentive, likes to look out the window and enjoys seeing new places and learning new things. How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. He's been known to bark at people but it's in a 'hi come on over and let's get to know each other' way. But..as big as he is it is a deep bark and that can intimidate people. Tips and Tidbits: Dood is a lot of dog with a lot of things going for him. He has been given a very bad rap and very nearly lost his life because his previous owner had no common sense. We are going to be extraordinarily picky about his next home to make sure it's his best home and his forever home. Dood and Dette are brother and sister and that is a problem. They will not be placed together. They egg each other on. They need separate homes and to go live their own lives. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
