Golden Retriever / Poodle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Name: Dette Sex: Female Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Golden Retriever / Poodle (Standard) (long coat) Weight: 80 lbs Height: 25 in Estimated Birthdate: 4/15/2015 Fence Needed: Without exception and it needs to be a solid, dependable fence and you need to plan to be in control of your dog. Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$499 Date into Rescue: 4/5/2019 Reason for being in rescue: VA shelter- allowed to run at large and picked up one too many times Special Needs: Dette was deemed a dangerous animal in the state of Virginia. Her previous owner would not keep her confined and she was allowed to roam at will. She is happy and gregarious and would run up to people and knock them down as a game. She's not shown any aggressive side to us at all but we all know how to tell her 'GET OFF' and she's respecting that cue. She needs some training and someone with some common sense. Dette CAN NOT GO BACK TO THE STATE OF VIRGINIA. EVER. What kind of home would be best for me: Dette's perfect owner will be someone with dog experience, who loves to take long, brisk walks and who would enjoy teaching, shaping and training their dog to be the excellent companion this dog has the potential to be. Dette is affectionate and friendly and longs for that companion that will be her partner, her friend and her guide through life instead of letting him run amuck. What is my personality like: Dette is a wide open kind of girl with zero attention span right now because no one has asked anything of her. That needs to change. She is a highly intelligent dog and because she has been allowed to run and roam she got into trouble. She was part of a pack with her brother Dood and was allowed too much freedom and not enough structure and training. One of our temperament programs is to take our dogs off site for adventures. Dette is a good girl in the car. She notices things but does not necessarily hyper focus on any one thing. She enjoyed the trip in the car just as she enjoyed the trip from Virginia to South Carolina. How do I act when I first meet new people: Cautious at first and then she warms up. Tips and Tidbits: Dette is a lot of dog with a lot of things going for her. She has been given a very bad rap and very nearly lost her life because her previous owner had no common sense. We are going to be extraordinarily picky about her next home to make sure it's her best home and her forever home. Dood and Dette are brother and sister and that is a problem. They will not be placed together. They egg each other on. They need separate homes and to go live their own lives. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
