About Rico

Adoption Fee: $300
Yorkie / Pomeranian
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Meet Rico! He is a 5 month old Yorkie Pomeranian mix who was found as a stray but never claimed. He is 8 pounds of pure puppy love! Rico is a lovable and rambunctious boy!!! He is very active and playful and loves to play with the other dogs in the foster home. He can be dominant in play so a playmate who likes to play as hard as he does would be recommended or a family with older children who can spend time with him. He's at the stage where he is starting to lose his puppy teeth as his adult teeth are coming through, so he is chewing on everything, including people, right now. That's not always a good solution with very small children as the puppy doesn't know the difference between them and a Nylabone! He will need more attention to keep him focused on chewing appropriate things until he is through this stage which usually lasts until about 6 months old so, almost there! Rico was recently adopted but proved to be too much puppy and was returned. He should not go to a home with small children as he plays too rough and needs a firm, patient hand to teach him appropriate behavior. He can be willful and will let you now if he doesn't want to do what you are trying to make him do or if he is afraid. Rico is working on his potty training. It is still a work in progress but he does know how to use the dog door and will go out when he needs to. He is an affectionate little guy and when he isn't playing, he loves to snuggle up to his person. He is a live one to be sure and will do great in an active home. Rico is up to date on all his shots and microchipped with a lifetime registration. When he is old enough, his neuter is included in his adoption fee, as long as it is performed by our vet. Does he sound like the right fit for your family? Why not fill in an application for him and set up a meet and greet? He will steal your heart way!
