About BEAR-3

Adoption Fee: $550
Rhodesian Ridgeback / German Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

BEAR-3 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. BEAR-3 is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 1 March 2018 and at the time of rescue in the middle of April 2019, weighed around 56.80 pounds. He is listed as a Rhodesian Ridgeback / German Shepherd mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. BEAR-3 is a very gentle boy, he can be very timid initially, but soon warms up and is a total sweet heart. He is a gentle giant that the small dogs are drawn to and he plays great with them, but can then go charging around chasing and wrestling with the bigger dogs. He is very affectionate and is the type of dog that will sit in front of you staring at you wanting to just share his love for hours. He has been located in the kennels, with the shop pack and most recently brought up to the house to live with the house pack and he did great. He has never shown any aggression with any of the dogs, he shares food and toys. He is nervous at getting in a car and has to be put in, this could be from a bad experience or just not used to being in them. Once inside he rides great. BEAR-3 has attended a local adoption event with 8 other dogs and was great, he loved on the volunteers and happily gave kisses and took biscuits from people coming up to see the dogs. He is a big dog that is going to need an active family, a family that has the time to work with him on basic and advanced obedience and helping him overcome his fears. He would make a great family addition as long as everyone gave him time and space to settle in and adjust, as with any new dog to a family. ' We do not know how he is around cats or livestock at the rescue so are unable to comment how any dog is or will be around them. 'All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
