About Scout

Hi! I'm Scout! I'm an 8-month-old male Border Collie/English Sheepdog puppy around 50 lbs. I'm still very nervous and scared after being at the shelter but once I warm up to you, I'm sweet, affectionate, and incredibly smart! I bond quickly (sometimes I try to fit myself in my foster's lap for cuddles!). I love to play and get pets once I know you! I'm still a little fearful of strangers, small children, cats, and dogs, but I adapt well and my foster family is working on socializing me with behavioral training. I'm showing progress! I'm crate-trained and house-trained (puppy pads or outside), and I know two commands ('sit' and 'down')! I love walks, bones, jerky treats, belly rubs, and dental chews! I'm very good in the car, as well. I'm a people-dog, so I like to be with my humans as much as possible. I'll need a home with lots of time, affection, and room to play as well as the ability to take me for walks and continue training. I become distressed when my foster adults leave my sight, so I'll require a lot of attention. I'm okay with older kids if you introduce slowly, but small children make me really nervous, so it's probably best that I be in a kid-free home or a home with kids that are at least school age. I'm not fond of cats or other dogs, but I'm still working on that, so I would also likely do best in a home without pets or willing to introduce other dogs slowly, though I'm still very young and can learn to socialize. I'm always anxious to please! I'm a very good boy and love to be told how gorgeous I am! I currently live in a foster home in Texas. If you choose to adopt me then Rescue Road Trips will transport me north. The adoption fee includes transport!
