About Ms. Tebow & Super Dave

Adoption Fee: $75
Lab / Rhodesian Ridgeback
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Ms. Tebow will only be adopted out with her very bonded companion, Super Dave. They are both approximately 4.5 to 5 years old. Their human dad died just before Christmas. Ms. Tebow is approximately 40 lbs. She appears to perhaps be a mix of lab and some kind of ridgeback. She loves to be loved on. She prefers to follow her human everywhere in the house and rarely sits down if her human isn't sitting down. Outside she loves to run off lead - so a fenced yard is a huge plus. She isn't great on a leash -- she will pull, but she's getting better -- just needs some work. She knows basic commands, but her recall is only great in an enclosed yard. If she is somewhere that has excess room to roam -- she tends to run as far and as fast as she can and won't respond to being called - unless or until she's ready. She's also a bit of an escape artist. If you leave her in a chain link fence, or other easy to climb fence unsupervised -- she will climb it and take off. If you leave her in a privacy fence unattended for too long - she'll dig under it. While she doesn't have an overly dominant personality, she is definitely the one in charge between the two dogs. Ms. Tebow loves to play fetch with squeaky toys. While not generally destructive, she needs tough toys because she will tear up toys -- especially squeaky toys -- she rips the squeakers out. She is good with adults and older kids -- like 8 and up, but does not like small children much. The smaller the child the less she likes them. Super Dave is approximately 65 lbs. He appears to be a lab or lab mix. Inside, he loves nothing more than to sit with his human and get a good belly rub. He will sit or lie with his human for hours on end and prefers to be touching the human or the human touching him. He will greet you at the door with exuberance and enthusiasm and love on you from the moment he sees you. He is very much a couch potato inside. If you walk him on a leash, he will pull some - but settles down reasonably soon. He appears very mellow on a leash, but the moment he's let off lead outside it's like a switch in his personality, he acts like a puppy running and jumping about. Super Dave has really good off-leash recall in parks and fields. He will attempt to fetch -- but Ms. Tebow always takes away the toy before he gets it back to you. He is submissive to Ms. Tebow, but otherwise has a balanced personality. He is much easier on toys than Ms. Tebow. He seems to love everybody. He's pretty mellow after he gets to know anyone. They both will chase cats - but if the cat stops, so do they. Neither has ever hurt a cat. They also have both chased the neighbors chickens, but again have never hurt one. They are both super sweet dogs that just want a family to call their own. They were raised by a bachelor and tend to prefer men and listen to men better than women. I'm a woman and I've been caring for them for about 4 months. They have really warmed up and show me lots of love. However, when Ms. Tebow has gotten free a handful of times and refused to come back to me -- I call the male neighbor, he comes out and calls to her, she stops in her tracks and goes running to him -- even when she was about 1000 feet away. She ran right past me to get to him. The adoption fee is $75 for the pair.
