About Maverick

Adoption Fee: $150
Pit Bull / Boxer
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Looking to re-home our pitbull-boxer mix. He's a total lover, a ball of energy and the tough guy. As the lover he wants to snuggle, will do tricks for cookies, lick and lick and lick you, and just enjoy being with his family. As a ball of energy he shows complete enthusiasm when you get home (even if gone just a second), wags his whip of a tail, and wants to run and play chase. As the tough guy, he's a protector that is aggressive with dogs he doesn't know (and it takes him a little bit to get used to new dogs, but he's fine once he knows them) and needs a stern voice to take a command like 'sit'! Oh, and he's potty trained and doesn't chew stuff (as long as he has his own toys). Maverick is a great house dog. Key word is house. He is NOT an outside dog and needs to sleep inside. (Full disclosure, he sleeps on our bed & gets on the couch with us at night.) He's pretty quiet unless a package is delivered or a visitor at the door. With his ball of energy self it takes him awhile to calm down when a visitor arrives. He likes to retreat to his bed with his favorite toys, and will sleep a good portion of the day as long as he gets his morning exercise in. He seems to prefer a morning 'poop walk'. Maverick needs a home where he can sleep inside, have a fully fenced yard to play in and someone that will exercise him. Maybe that's a walk/run or maybe it's fetch and playing in your fully fenced yard. He would also be best in a home with no young kids. He doesn't like a small thing crawling over to pull his hair/skin or pat his head, and his energy can knock over a little one just starting to walk. We'd recommend kids 10+ years, that can give him a command to 'sit' if he's too excited. Background; Maverick came from a shelter where he was saved from being tied up in a backyard, mistreated and underfed. He's insecure and a little head shy as a result. He'd much rather take a good butt scratch over a head pat. His energy is real and he needs to be exercised. Unfortunately a dog park is out of the question with his aggressiveness with dog he doesn't know. He was 1 and a half when he came to us and we've had him almost two years. With a little one crawling around and another on the way'| we're sure there is a better family that has more time for him out there. If you're interesting, please reply with the below confirmations; 1. Maverick would be an inside dog and not be left outside 2. If you have kids, they're old enough to give him a commend if he's too excited 3. You will exercise him daily Re-homing fee is $150 for the right family + he comes with all his existing toys, food supply, cookies and accessories. Large dog crate (we used initially when he came to live with us), bed, toys & toy box, Seahawks jersey, cold weather coat, Thunderjacket, leader leash and spike collar with leash. Ah he's chipped and up to date on all shots.
