About Baby

'Nobody puts Baby in the Corner!' And this little beauty is not interested in being put in the corner either. Meet Baby, a 14 year young, sweet as pie dachshund. Baby is spunky and spry for her age and loves to cuddle and play with toys. She is house-trained and crate-trained, but needs to be on a supervised schedule to avoid accidents. Baby rides nicely in the car, loves to play outdoors, and is spayed and recently had her pearly whites polished. She is also UTD on her vaccines and heartworm negative. Baby does well with other dogs who are not high energy and respect her space since her limited vision causes her to growl at other dogs who get too close. She is quiet and loves to be in your lap all day if you will let her. Baby also has some special needs. She is blind in one eye and has limited vision in the other eye. She has seen an eye specialist and her blindness is due to either an autoimmune condition called NGE or could be a tumor. The eye does not cause her any pain and she is currently using some drops that have helped her show some improvement, but are not recommended for long-term use. Because of her age, SGF has taken the doctor's recommendation to do maintenance that does not involve a biopsy to confirm a tumor, but more aggressive care can be undertaken if your vet recommends such.
