ADOPTION PENDING Meet Emma Emma is a cute-as-a-button older puppy of almost 11 months, who just gave birth to puppies of her own! Emma, along with three of her mates, were owner surrendered to our shelter on January 14, 2019. Their owner was going to lose his home and had no way to take care of them anymore. We had no idea that little Emma was going to be a momma, but we soon found out! Emma gave birth on February 20 and her four puppies will be up for adoption on April 17. Emma will be available shortly after the puppies are weaned and she's had a chance to rest/recover and be spayed. Through it all Emma has been a terrific and protective mother taking good care of her pups. Being a mother at such a young age has not afforded little Emma a chance to be a puppy herself. She's had to grow up much too fast. We are in search of a forever home that will let her experience what it means to be a beloved family pet. Emma is friendly, if a little shy, she's lived with both dogs and cats and does well. She's an active girl and would love nothing better than to be active with a family to call her own. She's a medium sized dog, weighing around 30 - 35 pounds. Emma is not yet house trained, but she's super smart and will learn quickly with training, patience and consistency. She's never been on a leash and with some encouragement, she'll learn this as well. Shelter staff and volunteers will work on her leash training. We expect the way Emma loves being outside she'll enjoy long walks and romping in the fresh air. Emma has so much potential for the person who will open their heart and home to her. She's been through a lot recently and could sure use some TLC. The person lucky enough to adopt Emma will be richly rewarded with a loyal companion. Come meet her. We think you'll be glad you did. Call 706-865-4135 for information on additional health services provided as part of the adoption fee.
